If you have read the introductory issue of this newsletter, you would know that I am interested in mobile robotics and have worked with robots for a few years now.
One question that I always get from early stage researchers (ESRs) looking to get into robotics is: “Can I learn robotics on a budget at home”?
Rightly so, if you have been watching the amazing capabilities of the Boston Dynamics robots, you would be wondering, getting into robots takes a lot of $$$$. As it turns out, you don’t always need a bag of cash to get into robotics.
In my article on learning robotics on a budget at home, I focused on two things:
Sharing ample FREEmium resources from the point of view of students working with a shoe-string budget and yet are self-driven to learn robotics
Sharing resources for students that will help them go beyond theory and simulations- buy actually getting their hands dirty in the comfort of their own homes
If you are a budding roboticist looking to get started with robotics, especially mobile robotics, I hope you find my article and resources helpful. Feel free to share them with your peers looking to get started with robotics.
If you have any feedback or would like me to address any of your concerns be it with respect to robotics or academia in general that has not already been covered, you can always reply to the newsletter and I’ll try and address your concerns in the coming issues.
